Our Cakes:

All of our cakes are freshly baked to order and hand-made.

As general guidance, cupcakes should be eaten as soon as you can (who can resist them!), preferably within 2 days. They should be eaten at room temperature and should be left in the box provided to you by Cherry Blossom Cakes.

Sponge cakes decorated in fondant icing should be eaten within 5 days but fruitcake is edible up to 6 months from delivery date. Cakes should be kept in the box provided by Cherry Blossom Cakes when uncut and should be wrapped in clingfilm and placed back into said box once cut.

As all of our cakes are freshly made they can be frozen if you find yourself with too much! Carefully triple wrap with clingfilm and they will be fine to freeze!

All wedding customers will be given a cutting chart with their cake and this should be used to calculate the right amount of portions for your needs.

Orders and Retainers:

To confirm an order, a non-refundable/non transferable 50% retainer is required upon booking. All orders under £50 will need to be paid in full upon booking. This will secure your requested date and cake order. The outstanding balance is due no later than one week before collection/delivery (for occasion cakes only, wedding cakes should be paid at least 8 weeks before wedding date)

If you wish to have alterations that affect the cost, after the retainer has been paid, the balance will be adjusted accordingly. Payments can be made by Cash or Bank Transfer Fruit cakes are made up to six months in advance and are to be paid for in full at time of booking. no refunds will be given on fruit cakes once ordered. Please make sure you have ordered for the date you ACTUALLY need it. We may not be able to accommodate a change in date once you have been booked in and paid your deposit

Designs:

Cherry Blossom Cakes WILL NOT replicate an exact copy of another persons design. All cake designs are the result of the information given to Cherry Blossom Cakes by the customer. The interpretation of customers’ bespoke requirements and amends to the design, are approved by the customer during the order process; written/verbal descriptions and a diagram will be used to explain what the customer will receive. Cherry Blossom Cakes reserves the right to make minor changes to best suit a design if they feel it necessary, these changes may not always be communicated to the customer.

Cherry Blossom Cakes will do its best to match any colour requests for icing but we cannot guarantee an exact Pantone match as colours present differently in different materials. We aim for a perfect match but this is not always possible.

Please check your order thoroughly before payment, for bespoke cakes we can only create the finished article from what we interpret from the wording of your order.

Alterations: Any alterations you wish to make to your confirmed, ordered cake design must be requested via message to Cherry Blossom Cakes Facebook page or via email to janine@cherryblossomcakes.co.uk.

We cannot guarantee that we will be able to make alterations to cakes requested within a month of delivery.

If an alteration affects the cost, your balance will be adjusted accordingly. This cost alteration must be paid 14 days prior to your order date if the cost is over the original total.

Any changes will be agreed via e-mail/page message.

Alterations to wedding favours and cutting-cake orders may not be possible within 2 weeks of your wedding reception date.

Consultations:

Once you have decided on your cake design, colours and details, we can arrange a taster-session, where you can sample your chosen cake flavour. This also gives you/me the chance to discuss any details regarding the final cake.

Wedding Cake Consultations are by appointment only.

The samples given in the consultation and tasting are made to approved Cherry Blossom Cakes cake recipes. However, every cake is handmade to order using fresh and natural ingredients and on rare occasions slight variations may occur as a result of this.

A deposit of £25 is required upon booking to confirm your consultation and is non-refundable. If you fail to inform us at least 24 hours prior to the tasting of any changes you need to make to the time/date of the tasting, then the tasting may need to be cancelled and your deposit will be kept. If you need to change or cancel your tasting at any point, please let us know as soon as possible.

There will be only one Consultation Meeting and one Taster-session, whereafter you are more than welcome to book another meeting/taster-session but a fee will apply for each extra meeting.

Cake tastings are for two people only, should you require more sittings, then this should be made aware to Cherry Blossom Cakes at the time of booking and further charges will apply.

Cake deposits are non-refundable. Please refer to the section regarding cancellations for more details.

Cancellations:

Retainers are non-refundable and non-transferable

If you cancel your order for any reason six months to two months before the requested date, 50% of all other monies paid except the deposit may be refunded. Cherry Blossom Cakes has the right to refund in whichever way they deem suitable and aims to refund within a month of cancellation.

If your order is cancelled less than eight weeks from the requested date, you will receive no refund.

Cherry Blossom Cakes has the right to not refund at all dependent on circumstances.

All refunds will be carefully considered by Cherry Blossom Cakes.

Delivery/Collection:

Cherry Blossom Cakes can deliver throughout Northeast England.

Cherry Blossom Cakes do not charge a flat fee for delivery and assembly. All delivery charges are calculated on a distance and time basis and are quoted in the order confirmation. Cherry Blossom Cakes delivery charges include delivery to the agreed location for the specified time (as per the order confirmation), liaison with the caterer or banqueting manager at your venue and assembly of the cake in-situ.

Delivery charges are calculated as starting from the baker’s studios in Jarrow, Tyne & Wear. The route taken is at the baker’s discretion.

Cherry Blossom Cakes offers you the option to collect your cake free of charge (not all cakes are suitable for collection so please ask for more detailed information), however, please note - If the cake is collected , the full responsibility for the safety of the cake is with the client and Cherry Blossom Cakes will not be responsible for any damage to the cake after its been collected.

If cakes have been collected they should be transported on a flat surface (preferably in an empty boot or passenger footwell - dependant on size of cake/car!). It is not recommended that cakes are put on a seat or a passenger knee as the angle can cause damage to cake.

Cake collections should be arranged at least 2 days prior to order date, if no time has been arranged Cherry Blossom Cakes cannot be held accountable if a delivery time is not suitable. A time slot of 30 minutes is available for your collection.

If you do not show up within 30 minutes of delivery time Cherry Blossom Cakes may not be in to hand your cake over and a new collection time will have to be arranged. Any late collections may be charged for, charges will be decided by Cherry Blossom Cakes and will need to be paid upon collection.

The same applies for cakes that are delivered- once we leave, we can not take any responsibility for the cake. (We will make sure it looks amazing before we leave but if Fluffy wants a bite.......... not our fault! Sorry!)

Cherry Blossom Cakes accept no liability for self-assembly cakes that are not assembled properly or are damaged during assembly or transportation.

Please note – wedding cakes can be very heavy and large and the components may come in several boxes. They may not be suitable for transporting via public transport.

Delivery costs MUST be paid prior to delivery, if payment has not been made then we will not deliver your cake and arrangements to pick it up will be at a time convenient to us.

Damages:

Cherry Blossom Cakes accepts no liability for cakes that are damaged after they have been delivered to the agreed location.

For cakes delivered to wedding venues, Cherry Blossom Cakes will provide a photograph as proof to say that the cake has arrived and that it arrived in perfect condition.

Cakes picked up from the studio are checked by myself and checked by the customer on collection. The customer consents that it has been collected in perfect condition by accepting the cake and removing it from the studio. Damages after this point are not Cherry Blossom Cakes’s responsibility.

All Cherry Blossom Cakes’s wedding cakes are fragile and require care and attention when handling, storing and displaying to prevent damage occurring.

Please take care when displaying your cake at your wedding reception to avoid direct sunlight, spotlights or candles creating damage to the cake decorations. Hand-painted cakes are especially vulnerable to heat and light damage. All Cherry Blossom Cakes’s cakes are designed to withstand normal and reasonable display conditions. Special requirements regarding display suitability will be discussed during the consultation process. Cherry Blossom Cakes accepts no liability for cakes that are damaged during display at your wedding.

Complaints:

Complaints are very rare, however, Cherry Blossom Cakes takes them very seriously, after all our great reputation is built upon the word of mouth of our customers!

Corrections and repairs to cakes including inscription mistakes, can be corrected on the same day in most cases.

You are required to give us the opportunity and must let us know of the problem within 1 hour of accepting your cake.

Some complaints may require further investigation and an immediate refund may not always be possible.

Cakes, or part of cakes, must be returned within 3 days to ensure we are able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint and that it never happens again!

The maximum refund we offer is the value of the cake. Further compensation is not available. All deposits/retainers are non-refundable.

Allergies:

Unless otherwise specified all Cherry Blossom Cakes’s cakes contain butter, gluten (wheat) and eggs and are made in an environment that handles nuts, soya and alcohol.

Nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free and alcohol-free cakes can be made on request but we cannot guarantee that these cakes will not contain trace amounts of these ingredients due to the nature of production.

Cherry Blossom Cakes accepts no liability for customers suffering allergic reactions from eating our cakes.

It is the customer’s responsibility to make Cherry Blossom Cakes aware of any special dietary requirements that need to be accommodated in the making of their cake.

All of our cakes are coated in a layer of chocolate ganache (white/milk/dark chocolate are used depending on the flavour of cake). Ganache is a mixture of cream and chocolate. Please make us wayward if you have any allergies to these ingredients.

Stand Hire:

Cake stands can be hired at £25.00 per cake stand.

A deposit is required to book a cake stand. This will be held until the stand is returned to Cherry Blossom Cakes.

We collect the stand from your Wedding Venue for free (Wedding Cake Service).

For all other cakes we are happy to collect the stand (within the Jarrow 10mile radius) for other distances, a charge will apply.

Otherwise Cake Stands need to be returned to Cherry Blossom Cakes within 48 hours from delivery/collection date.

Cake stand deposits are refundable upon the return of the cake stand to the Cherry Blossom Cakes studio to the bakers satisfaction.

All deposits will be returned via bank transfer once they have been deemed returned in a satisfactory state.
